After a day at the beach or a sunny round of golf, there
is nothing like a tall cold glass of ice tea and a light tasty meal.
Typically, we would grab a quick burger or a chicken salad.
Over time I found, I craved something with a little more flavor:
spicy, not too hot, but tangy. Once day after a incredibly long round
of golf at Sharp down in Pacifica, we drove home tired and totally famished.
I knew we had some left over Indian food in the frig. Boy was it good.
(Let's face it, outdoor activities and spicy food are a natural.)
It was then, that I decided I had to figure out how to make a Tandoori spice blend.
Low fat, lots of flavor and great hot or cold, how could I not want to make this blend?
I called it "a love at first bite flavor"-- the one you really want, crave!
After a lot of experimentation, I found we could achieve a wonderful
that tangy, tart accent by layering fruit flavors over our base notes. Next,
I added a rich organic paprika for flavor and finally, we had it...
a great tasting Tandoori bend fabricated without dyes or additives!
Made with easy summer entertaining in mind, this blend
works in myriad ways: a rub for fish like halibut, mix with yogurt
to make a dip for freshly cut veggies or a marinade for boneless chicken.
I guess you could say, this is the summer friend you'll enjoy having around
all year long!
FYI:
Our Tandoori blend makes a delightful version of Chicken Tikka Masala.
Unlike other commercial versions of this product, we achieve the pretty
salmon/pink color by only using spices. While your chicken may not
glow with the ruby-red intensity of food dye #5, it will shine with flavor.
